Lila vs. Leela vs. How to spell?

Hi, I’m Kat, I love the name Lila for my daughter. I’m training to be a yoga teacher, and Lila means "Divine Play" in Sanskrit. The thing is it’s pronounced Leela, and most people say Lyla. I could spell it Leela, but I feel like it looks trendy, cheap that way. How would you spell this name?

I’d spell it Leela. Lie-luh is the common pronunciation for Lila, and I think it will be a complete pain for you to have to correct something that is so widely accepted.

First poster again. I forgot to say that I son’t think Leela looks cheap or trendy, I know of people with this spelling so it seems fairly established also.

Leila would be the best spelling if you want it pronounced Lee-La

I would most definitely say Lila as Lye-luh. So if you want the correct pronunciation, I would go with Leela.

Then how do you pronounce Lisa, Mila, Tina or diva? I'm just asking for a friend and my granddaughter named Lila (pronounced lee -lah).
