Kira vs. Kyra

Hey, we are trying to decide how to spell our little girl’s name? We want to pronounce it keer-uh. And I know different parts of the U.S pronounce these spellings differently. The only keer-uh’s I have ever known spelled it kyra. But DH thinks Kira spelling is best. Please vote for the name you would say it like keer-uh. And any middle name suggestion are welcome. Our last name is bradley.

I would be unsure if Kyra was pronounced with a long I sound (like Myra). Kira I would definitely pronounce Keer-uh. The only girl I knew with this name spelled it Kira.

I agree that Keira would produce the most consistent pronunciation. My instinct would be KI-ruh for both Kira and Kyra.

Kira is the best spelling to get the correct pronunciation. Kyra looks like it is pronounced Kye-ruh.

I’ve known three Kyras and all of them pronounced it K-eye-ruh. Kira is best for your pronunciation.

My favourite spelling for the name is Keira, but out of your choices, Kira. I just think Kyra would often be said like Kye-ruh.
