The real name for Effie is Stephanie, but I prefer Effie on its own.

I really like Fiona and Seraphina but I am not sure I see where Effy is a nickname for either of them. How do you get Effy from those, I really like both! Thanks!

Effie sounds more like a nickname and it might not age well because it sounds a bit too cutesy. Effy would be fine for a baby if you gave her a normal first name.

I’ve never really liked Effie, but the name it’s short for is Euphemia (NOT Stephanie) so unless that’s your thing...
I’d prefer the spelling Effie. It seems to be more common.

Effie is a nn for Euphemia and Stephanie. Steph-a-nie, eph-ie. You could also use Persephone.
Btw my SIL name is Stephanie nn Effie.

I like the spelling Effie best! It could be a nickname for Josephine or any name that begins with F really. Maybe Florence or Felicty?

This might be too out there for you, but there’s a French name Zéphyrine that might work.

If you can get Effie from Elizabeth, why not other names with -eth? Elspeth, Bethany, Meredith, Gwyneth, or Edith? Or maybe use the initials E.F. to get Effie? Like Estella Fleur or Elise Fiona?

I like the last poster’s idea! Although maybe F.E. Would work better because it actually makes the sound. So, I was Googling for other names and I came across the Greek name Eleftheria. Apparently it means freedom, and it’s part of Greece’s motto "Eleftheria i thanatos," or "freedom or death."
