Lawson vs. Briston vs. Names Like These

I absolutely love the name Lawson. Like LOVE. We have a family friend who’s kid is named Lawson, and it’s too close for us to feel comfortable naming our little boy that. We like Briston, but same problem. These sound like old Western names to me. We aren’t interested in the typical names that come to mind for westerns, like Levi, Cole, Hank, Reed, etc. We are more interested in names like Lawson, Silas, Jefferson. Please help us with more suggestions! Thank you in advance.

I was going to suggest Lincoln, but it may be too close in comfort for you, but it’s adorable and fits the description.

So grateful for good, solid suggestions! Would love more, but this is a lot to think about.

My middle name is Danielle, so I really like Dashiell (maybe as a middle name). Names we like are Anders, Brooks (but sort of reminds me of the running shoes...), LOVE Britton, and Abram.

My husband actually LOVES Booker, but it sounds like Booger when I say it. I just cannot.

Lawrence reminds me of Laurent, which I feel like is Tom Cruise’s name on Interview with a Vampire (google refuses to let me confirm this atm).

LOVE Dawson (must be the sound), but reminds me of Dawson’s Creek. Now you all see how horrible I am in the naming process!

I agree with you on Booker. I think it’s better said as a full name (Like Booker T Washington).

I’m glad you love Abram and Britton. Dashiell would be a cool middle name since it’s pretty similar to your name.

I know! It’s so cute, but I sound ridiculous saying it. I do really love Abram, I hope that gets thrown into circulation a little more with our "name talks". I do really like Grady (but when I say it, sounds like gravy- I’m harsh), and I like Abbott and Alden. I have a friend with a little girl names Sutton (she is precious, but too close). Thank you!
