First name Elliot vs. Middle name Elliot

We have fallen in love with the name Elliot for our son to be, but we don’t know whether to use it as a first name or a middle name. His older brothers are Oliver and Ezra. All I have heard is the name is too girly to go with his brother’s names, but we adore it for a boy. What are your thoughts? Would you use it for a boy? First or middle? Other suggestions? Thank you. I don’t think there is anything girly about the name. this name is all boy with a few people using it for girls. I’d go with Middle name since it’s a bit close to Ezra though.

Girly?? How?? Elliot is a strong, sweet boys name. I love it so much, especially with Oliver and Ezra. I don’t think its too close to Ezra-only similarity is that they both start with E, which is fine. If you decide to end up not using Elliot, I think Levi would sound wonderful with Oliver and Ezra.

Thank you. We actually don’t mind if Elliot and Ezra are too close, which we don’t really see the similarity, besides them both starting with E. Yes, friends and family assumed that we were naming a girl Elliot when we brought up the name, before finding out the sex. We don’t know why, just that they knew one girl Elliot, but no boy Elliot’s. We actually really like Levi and Lucas too. We think that Elliot Levi would flow nicely. Thoughts? -Sara and Ross

Elliot is very nice. Your other boys have lovely, soft masculine names that Elliot goes well with. Use it for a first name if you really love it.

Elliot Levi sounds great.

I have always thought of Elliot as a masculine name that has been appropriated as unisex by people who wanted a funky girl name. I love it!

I personally can’t believe Elliott is used on girls! Oh my ! Seriously. Elliott and Ezra sound great together!

I would say middle name, not because Elliot is too girly, but because then you would have two E names and one O name. How about Gideon Elliot?

Um changed my mind Gideon Elliot has too many syllables, doesn’t it. How about Henry Elliot, Max Elliot, or Maximus Elliot nn Max?
