I want the traditional spelling but my husband likes 2 b’s. Personally, I think it looks like a typo 😕

Agree it doesn’t look right with double b and it will get missed spelt. Stick with the original spelling, beautiful name.

It does look like a typo, and your daughter might get tired of correcting ppl on how to spell it.

stick with the right spelling. Abbigail will just cause her to always be correcting people.

You’re right, it looks like a typo.
An odd spelling will just make her have to constant spell her name for everybody because no one is going to spell it with two B’s unless they’re told to. My niece lives with this (though it’s a different name) and my sister has told me that she wishes she’d spelled it the usual way. It makes the kid’s life easier.

Abigail looks better as well as being the known spelling.

She can still go by Abby even if you spell Abigail is one B. Maybe that’s your husband’s reasoning for wanting the double B’s? If so, tell him not to worry. Every Abby I’ve known has been spelled Abigail.

My name is Abbigail, and I honestly don't care one way or the other about how it's spelt. It doesn't bother me when it's spelled wrong, it means the same thing, plus it's a little more unique.

Completely disagree with comments. I always assumed abbigail was spelled with two b's. With one b reads Abe, to me, very masculine. Blech!!! Two b's all th way

My name is Abbigail with 2 b's and personally when i tried to get kids when I was younger to spell my name they always spelled it with 2 b's I think 2 b's is actually the way most people who don't know how it's usually spelled would spell it especially to children Abbigail spelled with 1 b just doesn't seem right and I know from experience I guess

This is my second comment I said that I think that most people especially children who don't know how it is spelled think it is spelled with 2 b's I know this because my name is Abbigail but in the end they are both the same name with the same meaning just spelled different and in the end it's the parents choice so it is just a name in the end
