I would go with the typical spelling. Reasoning: More people will pronouce it correctly.
My name is Kaytee (Katie) and I am always having to spell it for people and correct people because they think it says Kaylee or something else. Sometimes, people don’t even what it says. :) Oh and she will be able to find a keychain with her name on it! :D
