Sawyer pronunciation vs. Saw-yer vs. Soy-yer

We really like the name Sawyer Allen for our second son, due next month but when we’ve shared with friends and family the name we’ve chosen we have had people pronounce it Saw-yer and we don’t like that pronunciation. We also have a 3 year old son named Connor James. Thanks!

I like the name Sawyer soy-er but if it was pronounced saw-yer I would think it was unattractive. I’m surprised anyone else would use the name if they pronounced it saw-yer.

I’m from MA and always heard soy-yer. But I can recall my grandmother in OH saying law-yer instead of loy-yer, so I’m guessing that Sawyer would get pronounced saw-yer in at least some parts of the country.

Sawyer. I've never heard of it pronounced like Soy sauce. Makes me think Soy or Soiled. Just sounds wrong.. Saw-yer is cleaner and more proper to me. I live in the south. Soyer sounds a little Candadian lol I've only ever heard Tom Sawyer pronounced Tom Saw-yer. Like it's spelled.

My name is Sawyer and it's definitely pronounced Saw-yer. Just like a law-yer or "I SAW you at the store today". It's basic english pronunciation.

Named my son Sawyer and we pronounce it soy-yer. I correct people that call him saw-yer. I've only ever heard it pronounced soy-yer. From Midwest.

Always heard it called saw yer until, maybe 10 years ago?
I don't even like the name if you say it with the soy sound.
I think the soy sounding name is modern.

I have always heard it pronounced Saw-yer.

SAWYER, The name's origin is one who SAW'S. Not one who SOY'S. Just as a LAWYER is someone who practices LAW, not someone who practices LOY. I hope this settles the debate.
