Nickname for vs. Laurel?

We were thinking of naming our 2nd daughter after our moms. His mom’s first name is Laura and my mom’s middle name is Faye (she would back me up on not using her first name). We were thinking Laurel Faye. Laurel seems kinda hard to say, so I was wondering if it had any nicknames (besides Laura).

I was mainly wondering if others thought it was hard to say and if the name sounded okay together. If it is hard to say, we would probably use a nickname.

Laurel Faye is beautiful. As a speech therapist I can tell you lots of kids have difficulty with the L sound and R sound, but then again, My name is Lauren and I never had any trouble. She can always go by Faye, which is easy to say, if problems come up. All nicknames I can think of for Laurel also seem a little tricky to say, Laura, Laurie, or Rory, but they’re all cute.

I think Laurel Faye is gorgeous! I’m a speech therapist also and my daughter’s name is Lorelei...she’s 2 and says her name beautifully. She may or may not have some difficulty with L and R, but I wouldn’t use that as a guideline for choosing your daughter’s name.

Laurel is difficult to say, in my opinion, but if you like the name, go with it. Might I suggest Lori as nick?:) My given name’s Lori and I’ve always loved it. Some people called me by my first and middle, Lori Jane, which was fine, too.

I don’t think Laurel is difficult to say at all, and Laurel Faye is very beautiful! I have a friend named Laura, whom we all call Lo, which could be a nickname for Laurel as well.

My name is Laurel. I don’t care that no one hears it as Laurel and instead assumes Laura. I do not correct anyone, you learn to not do that at a very young age. I know the nickname for Laurel as being Lo. In fact, every little kid learning to talk seems to say Lolo instead and it’s cute.
