Shane vs. Shawn vs. Sean
I like Shane (this is for a BOY), but I was told recently that Shane is a "girl" name.... I have never heard of girls being called Shane... Shayna, yes, but not Shane... but is this true? If so, should I avoid it and use Shawn/Sean? Thanks!

Shane is all boy, and better than Shawn/Sean. Shawn is more girly than Shane...the gymnast Shawn Johnson. I’d go with Shane.

I love Shane and it is not a girl name at all! I have met a girl named Shawn though. It seems like no boy names are "safe" anymore, look at Hunter and James, both are being used on a few unlucky little girls. I would worry about Shane at all, or even Sean. Both have feminine versions that are used way more, especially Shayna. GL!!

My daughter’s nanny is named Shawn too (a woman). Shane is definitely a boys name and a great name at that in my opinion. Shane gets my vote.
Shane can be used as a girls name, but usually a boys. Shawn has been used for girls for years....amazed some of you are shocked! Sean is actually the Irish spelling, but for awhile a lot of people were using Sean for boy and Shawn for girls. I have never seen a SEAN girl though! lol

I like Shane better, but if you use Shawn I would use the spelling Shaun for a boy.
I have never heard any of these names on a girl. I am sure they can be but so what? I like Aiden and Tristan, I hear they can both be used for girls names. I will probably use one of them anyway. Go with Shane if that is your favorite. I also like Shawn and spelled that way. GL!

I like Shane, too. But if you use Shawn , I prefer the spelling Sean.
But I like Shane much better, it’s one of my favorite names!

Go for Shawn! Its such a great name. I love them all but Shawn would be my favorite.
