Sebastian vs. Sebastien vs. NICKNAME

My husband and I are really loving the name Sebastian/Sebastien. His big sisters are Genevieve "Evie" and Bellamy "Belle." Both of their names are French... so we are leaning toward the spelling of Sebastien because it’s also French, vs. the Latin spelling Sebastian. Which do you prefer? We’re also trying to figure out a fun nickname for him. My husband has been calling him "Ace." Other options we’ve come up with are: Bash, Seb, Sebby, and Ash. Any other suggestions?

Sebastian. Nicknames Ace or Ash are great for a baby to an adult.

I’ve never thought of Ash as a nickname for Sebastian/Sebastien, but I really like it! I know an adult Sebastian who goes by Sasha among his friends/family. I guess like SebASTiAn?

I like the idea of using Sebastien to subtley match his siblings! I don’t like Bashat all...it sounds violent to me, like bashing someone’s head in or something. Sorry, but that’s the impression I get.

I like it better with an "a" a the end--people will be forever spelling it wrong, or he’ll say "Sebastian with an ’e’" and people will say "What?!" My nephew named Sebastian goes mostly by his full name, Seb or Sebby as occasional nicknames.

We named our son Sebastien (French blood line) and have no regrets. Nicknames include Seb or Sebby. He's quite athletic so I call him Sebster. Other nicknames include "sea bass" or Bastien. One of his school teachers calls him the Sebinator!

I have a younger brother named Sebastian, and all through our childhood my whole family called him Basti (SeBASTIan). His teachers called him Basti, his friends called him Basti, and he absolutely hated it when someone called him Seb. Now that I think of it though, and actually see it typed, it does look slightly weird. But it just sounded right and it completely suited him at the time. :)
