Stephan vs. Stefan vs. Stephen
We want the first syllable to be pronounced "stef" not "steve" so which spelling would be best? My husband and I both are leaning towards Stephan because he is being named after my sister Stephanie, so that’s the spelling that makes the most sense to us. Middle name suggestions would be more be great!!!! Thanks ~Josephine, Logan, Camille Victoria (2) and Baby Boy!

Stefan. Any other spelling will be confused with Steven as Steven can also be spelled with a ph. GL

That’s a hard one. I know a guy named Stefan, pronounced Stef-fon. Lots of people pronounce it correctly but others also say it the way you want. I think Stephan is the best choice..

If you want the "f" sound, go with Stefan. I would say Stephan/Stephen, Steve- an.

Definitely Stefan for the pronunciation you want. It’s much more memorable than the other two choices. Good luck!

Although the "ph' variants are gendered in phonetics to be pronounced differently than the feminine form "Stephanie" only pronounced as "STeF-uhNEE" It is up to the family to use them as They have in Their tradition. They are officially tagged but can be subject to ambiguous spelling pronunciations.
Steven = "STEEV-ən"
Stephen = " STEEV-ən/STeF-ən"
Stephan = "STeF-an/STə-Fahn" "STEEV-ən"
Stefan = "STeF-an/STə-Fahn
Steven = "STEEV-ən"

I'm named Stephan. For 39 years people have been mispronouncing my name as "Steven" as people just scan read or just don't know how to pronounce, it and refer to Stephen in their head
