Full Name vs. For Nickname vs. Fin or Finn
My husband and I both love the name Fin(n) for our son, but we strongly dislike the only full names we can think of (Finley and Finnegan). Are there any other more formal names for Fin(n)? Our last name is Norben so we could potentially make his initials F. I. N. if we found a combination we really liked. Thanks for the help!

Only other fn’s I can think of are Griffin and Phineas. I love the idea of initials though. Suggestions:

I guess if people use Ireland as a name you could use Finland, but honestly I think just Fin would be better. You might be able to get by with a name like Fenton or Fenwick.

We both like Griffin. I like Phineas somewhat, but husband doesn’t. Neither of us like Fin(n) as a full name with our last name. We also like Fletcher Isaac, Franklin Isaiah, and Frederick Ian. -Poster

How about Finnian? I saw this awhile ago and it’s been in the back of my head. Also, this might be a little unconventional, but what about Finnick? Another suggestion would be if you are going to end up going with Finley, you might want to spell it Findlay or Finlay because Finley is more associated with girls. However, you can use Finley for either gender but Findlay and Finlay is generally only for boys and Finley for girls.

We DON’T like Finley or Finnegan. We’re not fans of Finnian either. It sounds feminine to us. We like Forrest, but we prefer it with the middle name Ivan. Thanks for all the suggestions so far! We’ll check back tomorrow and make a new list of favorites. -Poster
