Girl Name vs. With The Nickname vs. Mona
Hello there so I really like the name Mona but my boyfriend thinks we should only use it as a nickname. What are some girl names that we get the nickname Mona from? Please don`t suggest Monica. Thanks, The Silvers

Ramona is a possibility I like
Here are a few others:
Moana
Monet
Marigold (Might be a bit of a stretch, but I think it could work, especially if you had an 'N' middle name, Marigold Nora 'Mona')
As I suggested above, if you used an 'N' middle name and a 'M' first name, you could get the nickname Mona. Names I think you could make it work with (Middle name being Nova, Naomi or Nora):
Margaret/Margo
Marlow/Marley
Maranatha
Mara

I don't think anyone's suggested Monique yet. It's not made-up. I have a family friend of French-Canadian descent with that name. It's said kind of between mo-NEEK and muh-NEEK. I also think Ramona would work really well as a logical choice with Mona nickname.

Loads of great possibilities already. Kudos, folks.
I just wanted to add that Mona is a name in its own right in Irish and Arabic. In Irish, it's the English spelling of Muadhnait, meaning little noble one. In Arabic, it's a variant of Muna, meaning wishes / desires.
So Mona doesn't have to be short for anything. It's fun to have a full name and a nickname. Morwenna, Montaserrat and Desdemona are my favorite full name ideas here for Mona. Just so you know it can stand alone too. Good luck! :0)
