Bea: "bee" vs. Bea: "Bee-uh"
My husband and I have been pronouncing this name as "bee-uh" (rhymes with Leah). However a couple family members seem to think its just "bee" (like sea). It is on the top of our list with the "bee-uh" pronunciation but we really really hate it if its just "bee." which way is right?
The Top Baby Name is...

Bea is "bee" to me.
Perhaps you can spell it Beah or Biah to get the pronunciation you want.

I know it's supposed to be pronounced like bee, but whenever I see it a can't help but say bee-uh (which I prefer)

Bee. I did see a few polls months ago from someone who was also pronouncing it Bee-ah. I believe she said it was pronounced that way in another language (I forget which) that was part of her heritage. I have no idea if that was accurate or not.

If you have family members that say it incorrectly, it probably means strangers will frequently mispronounce it as well. I would change the spelling if the sound of the name is really what you are going for. I would say Beah, Beeyah, or Biah if you decide to change it. Ultimately, you should name your child whatever you like, but it won't stop people from mispronouncing it if it's spelled Bea.
Good luck!

I've heard Bea pronounced both BEE and BAY-uh. BAY-uh because I'm some European countries, the first syllable of Beatrice/Beatrix is pronounced BAY.
I don't see why Bea couldn't be pronounced bee-uh too, but if you want people to be clear on the pronunciation, you could go with Beah or Bia?
