Personally I absolutely don't like the name
I like Emma Emilee Emerald and Esmeralda.

Love it. Emmy is my personal preferred spelling - to me it looks more complete, somehow, like it's not short for something.

I prefer it for boys because it's a surname of some people I know here, which makes it seem masculine. But go with what you love. Good luck!

I love Emerson, but on a boy. It made me sad to see this strongly masculine name make the leap to the girls' side. But whether for a boy or a girl, I think it should be spelled correctly: Emerson. Substituting a y for an o is just, well, dumb.
