McKenzie vs. Mackenzie vs. Makenzie

My hubby and I are expecting our first baby girl and we decided on this name but we can't decide on the spelling. His mother passed right after us getting pregnant and her surname was McKenzie so we wanna honor her but I've had many comments about how Mackenzie is better and less like "McDonald's". McKenzie always looks best to me. Makenzie looks like someone who can't spell.

Mackenzie, Mckenzie, McKenzie & Makenzie are all widely used spellings of this name. In this situation, I'd definitely spell your daughter's name McKenzie, like your mother-in-law's surname. If you make any adjustments, you can always use a lower-case "k". But, really, it's about honoring your MIL & her heritage, so ignore the naysayers. Best of luck to you!

I think both Mackenzie and McKenzie would work. Mackenzie looks a little more like a first name but to honor your hubby's mother you should go with the McKenzie spelling.

I've learned not to share potential baby names with anyone. If you want to honor his mother, use the correct spelling. It's YOUR baby.

Makenzie is my daughters name. I wasn't a fan of the McKenzie or Mackenzie. Mc reminded me of McDonald's and Mackenzie reminded me of a Mack truck. MAKENZIE was the one

Also I LOVE Kenzie for a nickname. She also has a name not everyone has and I feel is beautiful and unique
