Jordan vs. Jordyn
I always thought the correct spelling was Jordan for boy or a girl. Recently people keep telling me to spell it the girl way, Jordyn. Is that right? Advise please!

I dont think adding a Y to a boy name makes it a girl name lol. My brother spells his name Jordan. But i have seen girls spell theirs both like Jordan and Jordyn....also Jordin (Jordin Sparks) and Jordynne. I think its like any name and u can spell it how u like it best. GL

Jordan gmv.
I only like it on a boy. But it's a real place and why should a girl get a misspelling of it? Good luck! :0)

NEVER substitute a letter for "Y". It is extremely tacky and it is just better overall to spell it correctly. There is no "feminine" spelling for Jordan it is just simply Jordan. Sorry to be so harsh but it just irks me when people butcher good names like Jordan. Remember, classic is always best.

Don't worry, you were right the first time. Jordan is the accurate spelling. Just think of how you and eventually your daughter will have to correct people. As a general rule, it's usually better to use the original spelling of a name. I would say that if it looks good as it is, no need to change it unless the actual spelling could cause problems for the child. For instance, Kristoph would be a better choice than Krzysztof. However, no need to spell Emily as Emmylee

A y can replace an I in most names but not just any letter. If it's not a known spelling skip it.

Jordan works for either. I personally like the spelling Jordyn for a girl, but Jordan is perfectly fine. Good luck :)
I would say that Jordan is the standard spelling, whether you use it for a boy or girl. I think the Jordyn spelling has come from people trying to make the female gender obvious.

My niece's name is spelt Jordan! It all depends on how YOU want to spell it. Personally, I think that substituting the 'a' for a 'y' is just a thing people are doing now, but keeping the original spelling is classy. Too many people are trying different spellings to make their kids feel "special", when in reality, so many people are doing it. It's basically like a fashion statement.
Despite what everyone tells you, do what you feel is right for you and your daughter. Good luck!
