Rheneas vs. Go for it vs. Absolutely not
My husband and I are expecting our first and last week while watching Thomas the Tank Engine with my niece and nephew and I heard the name Rheneas, now call me crazy but I fell in love with it! I brought it up to my husband and he actually likes it as well (and thinks that Rhen/Ren is a cool nickname). But before we begin to consider it as a serious option we wanted to get some outside opinions. Do you think this could work as a first name or is it destined to be tucked away forever as one of those "out there" guilty pleasure names?
The Top Baby Name is...
Rheneas
Go for it
Absolutely not

I don't think it's too out there. And honestly I don't feel that Thomas is as popular of a show as it used to be so I'm sure hardly anyone would realize that that's where you got it from. Ren is a really cure nickname.
If you and your LO really love it and can't find anything else you love as much then just use it! Its cute!

Ren is sweet. It's a Japanese unisex name.
It works well as a nickname too. Not a fan of Rheneus, sorry. Possible full names for Ren:
Adrien
Brendan
Brent / Brenton
Darren
Lawrence / Laurence / Lorenzo
Oren -- pine tree in Hebrew
Renard -- fox
Renatus / Renato -- ("reh-NAHT-us") reborn
René -- reborn, masculine form of Renée, same pronunciation
Riordan -- ("REER-dun") Gaelic, little poet king
Terence
Trent -- English river
Warren -- animal enclosure
Some of these take a bit of imagination. But that's a good part of what nicknames are for. Good luck! :0)

How do you pronounce it? Does it rhyme with Phineas?
I'm saying it Ren (as in wren the bird)-ee-iss. I think it could be a good name and Ren is cool nickname

Being called Rheneas, brothers chose it before my birth as my middle name. It's what separates me totally from all names, have since never met another person called Rheneas. It's a made up name which is really f***** up for a child but I wouldn't change it. I pronounce it as Re Nay Is.
If you consider naming your child this name remember it rhymes with ****. It's the name of a freight train, and has no real meaning which also means I or your child can either mess it up for all of us or we can make it so more people call their kids this.
Hardly used the nickname though. :)

I would be reluctant to use something so unusual that is attached to a popular children's show.
I think at some point he wouldn't want to be associated with the show. But that is just my feelings and it may not bother you.
If you want Ren as a nickname I know a Lawrence who goes by Ren. Good Luck.
