I like it. It's familiar but not to common. It has that something when you say it. Go for it!

Gorgeous, quirky, elegant, chic, balletic, adorably awkward -- all at the same time. Mesmerizing for a name nerd. Proceed with wild abandon.
By the way, nickname Odie would be too cute. Good luck! :0)

I'm not a fan. The -ette ending sounds dated, and the Od- beginning reminds me of Odie (Garfield's dog) and odor.

I'm sorry. I don't like it. It's not that it sounds old, it's an unattractive name (in my opinion). Do you like Yvette?

Odette is one of the most beautiful names of all time. The first time I heard it (when I was little) I adored it. It is very romantic and poetically beautiful and has such a soft beauty to it and elegance. It could be the name of a Shakespeare leading lady.

What do you think of Odessa, Colette, or Cosette?

Breathtaking! And goes amazingly with so many mn's.
I'm really not sure how anyone could say the "eft" sounds dated? Dated how? As in glorious medieval times? Very few people have or ever had names ending in ette. Really, it's very French in sound in that regard.

Not a fan. It's too short/abrupt. It doesn't sound pretty.

French name endings for girls were all the rage in the US in the middle of the 20th century. A lot of -ette names peaked in popularity during that period: Annette (1960), Bernadette (1946), Jeanette (1939), Lynette (1965), Paulette (1946), Yvette (1967). Even though Odette has never been very popular in the US--the only time it ranked in the top 1000 was in 1905--its ending sound is passé.

All of the names you listed ending in ette are all extremely rare compared to the spectrum of names. I'm not sure why you would say "ette" is dated when in fact names that end with a (Bella, Alyssa, Amanda, Jessica, etc.) are MUCH more common as well as names ending in y today (Ashley, Hadley, Hayley, Kaley, Kylie, Riley, Jamie, Sophie). Seems odd to me. In fact I'd say that it's in the name's ending's rarity that is causing you to single it out i.e. there a a million names ending similarly with A sounds but you don't notice them because they're a dime a dozen, the ettes stand out more BECAUSE they're much rarer so you're paying more attention to them.
I challenge you to go out into a few different crowded places and find more than one (or even one) Bernadette, Jeanette, Lynette, Paulette, or Yvette... seriously. Challenge.
What's passé is to say things are "passé" (which means out of fashion) because you think names should run on whatever is the current trend and not authentic quality of a name.
Odette is timeless, a gem!

GORGEOUS! And so versatile. It has a stunning beauty, a beautiful softness, it's elegant and refined yet also has natural and wild nature-y beauty to it. I could even see it on someone a bit edgy and sassy. I picture it on an exceptionally beautiful person; a natural beauty, good just and compassionate person, strong, sassy, elegant, a bit edgy, independent, free thinker, and so on. All good things come to mind.
