Eira EYE-ruh vs. Eira AY-uh vs. Eira EHR-uh
We cam across Eira a Welsh name meaning snow, but we we're confused as to how to say it. On several sites it gave these three pronunciations. We read it as EYE-ruh but we're curious to get some outside feedback on how others say it. Is there only ONE correct pronunciation from it's Welsh origin? And just FYI, my maiden name is Snow so we love that the meaning of Eira would be a nod to my maiden name. Thanks guys!
The Top Baby Name is...

I just looked this up on Forvo to actually hear the pronunciation. I'd say it was closer to the third option, sounding almost like a cross between the first two.

If you listen to pronounce names and others it is more like ear-uh.

We listened to the pronunciation on that site but it also gave EYE-ruh and AY-ruh as options depending on where you lived. We live in the western US. We prefer EYE-ruh but if the name is going to have too many issues with the pronunciation we may just find another name. Thank you! :)

I'm fluent in the Welsh language (It's my first language, but I live in the U.S., not Wales). There are actually two ways to say Eira — if you speak Welsh — but it depends on where you're from : Eye-ra or Ay-ra.
