Donovan definitely cannot be a girl name in my opinion. Only female forms or similar I can think of are Donna/Dona, Donalyn/Donnalyn, Donatella.

To me it cannot be a girls name. Riley and Avery are unisex in my opinion due to the softer letter sounds and endings. Donovan just has a more masculine sound. Try Donna, Donova, or Nova

Donovan is a Gaelic surname, pronounced "DUN-uh-vun" in Ireland. Not sure about Scotland but would assume the same pronunciation.
