I think the poster is trying to find a spelling for EYE-luh. I think Isla is the traditional spelling, which most educated/readers would recognize.

Isla is the traditional spelling and I don’t really think it needs a nickname.
However, people could call her Izzy or Lala if you chose.

I think Eyla would be pn correctly. Isla, although it might be the "educated" spelling, imo would be pn Is-lah by everyone.

I think Ayla looks the best, but I think unfortunately most people will pronounce it A-la. Isla is the most straightforward I think. Most "educated" "readers" know how to pronounce Island (EYE-land) and should be able to pronounce Isla like EYE-lah.
I love this name and it’s sad that there is not one good spelling for it. All of them will have pronunciation issues.

I named my daughter Eyla (pronounced Eye-lah). I didn\’t want to use the spelling Isla because I didn\’t want kids to call her an island or something and Ayla is almost always pronounced \"ay-lah\". That being said, VERY few people get the pronunciation correct upon seeing my daughter\’s name. Doesn\’t really bother me, but she will be correcting people for the rest of her life. Something to consider.

We named our daughter Eyla and people are forever asking why it’s spelt that way, I just tell them it’s because we wanted something different for her that didn’t make her a sheep, while at the same time being a fairly normal name

My name is Ayla and I pretty much hate it. I am constantly called A-la (a like hay) Even when you correct people, they don’t bother making effort. One person even had the audacity to argue with me on the pronunciation, like I was the idiot for not knowing my own name. I have the same problem with my surname too which is a common name but with an unconventional spelling.

We named our daughter Eyla. We loved the name but just didn't love the spelling 'Isla'. We definitely do have to correct people when they mispronounce it. I feel a bit bad about that for her sake in the future, but it's such a beautiful name and I love how we spelled it.
