Gigi Short for Paige vs. Yes vs. No

Hi! I've fallen in love with the name Paige and someone suggested the nickname Gigi. (Paige/Paigey/Gigi) I personally love this as a nickname but a few family members have said they don't understand how Gigi could come from the name Paige so they aren't sold on it. Please let me know whether you think Gigi makes sense as a nickname for Paige and feel free to drop any nickname suggestions! Thank you!
