Eddie vs. Teddy

My 2-year-old son is Theodore and goes by Theo. I want to name our second son Edward and call him Eddie. My husband thinks Theodore and Edward are basically the same name because both could have the nickname Teddy, even though we wouldn't call either of them Teddy. Do you think Theo and Eddie works well, or do you think it would be weird? (Pick "Eddie" if you think it works, and "Teddy" if you think they're pretty much the same name!) Thanks! :)

I know 3 Edwards—they go by Ed, Ted and Eddy. I personally wouldn't use it because there is a possibility that Theodore ends up as a Ted or Teddy, when he is old enough to choose his nickname. Obviously, Eddie and Ted/Teddy would be too similar. And how about if Edward wanted to go by Ted? How about Edward as his middle name?

Nothing wrong with Edward and Theodore. In fact, I wouldn't think of Teddy as a nickname for Edward. Edward doesn't contain the letter T. Go ahead :)
