A Y R A (eye/aye-rah) vs. Opinions please

My last poll on the spelling got a lot of negative comments and a bunch of people telling me they'd pronounce this the same was a Aria or Arya even though the spelling is VERY different despite the letters being same. Let me know what you think, I adore this name.

The Top Baby Name is...

Not being negative but myself and everyone I know world pronounce it Aria. Many names have different spellings and are still pronounced exactly the same.

I apologize I read that as Arya at first glance. I would pronounce this Aye-ruh

I wouldn't say that the spelling is VERY different it's just the middle two letters flipped, as seen above very easy to mistake to Arya. I would pronounce it Ara.

Definitely see Ayra, not Arya! All it takes is some reading. Eira can be pronounced just the same, either "AY-ra" or "I- ra;" it's a Welsh name meaning "snow!" How cute! Unless the Ayra spelling is important to you, Eira may be worth checking out as a less problematic alternative!

I think the first comment proved exactly what everyone was saying on the last post. They are not very different at all. They are actually extremely similar and since Arya is the more known name at first glance the eye reverses the middle letters and Ayra is very easily mistaken for Arya.

I'd go with Ira or Eira.

I just looked up the last post mostly just people saying the wouldn't pronounce it Eye ruh and giving suggestions as to what would get that pronunciation and one person saying it would probably get mistaken for Arya like it did here. Not exactly negative but I think the point was proven that it would come with pronunciation issues and get mistaken for another name. Just decide if you and your husband will care and if you think it'll bother your daughter.

I would pronounce this Aye-ruh. I actually really like Ayra! Pretty name.

You're saying it like the boy name Ira, right? I'd just spell it that way as it seems simplest. Or maybe the Welsh way suggested above though I wouldn't know to say that Ira without someone telling me. But it would be confused less with Arya.
