I think the vast majority of people you run into will say Loren like the male version.

Lore-en is the girl way of saying it. No offense, but I think your gram is loopy.

Pronounced-- Lore (like the word lore in folklore) and then en for a girl. For a boy it is LOR en.

I live in Ohio, and I have a cousin named Lauren. We say it Law-ren. So I guess we are loopy too, but that is the way everyone says it here.

I’m from Ohio too.. it’s pronounced Lar up north. And where I am, it’s mostly Lor.

Maybe it is a regional thing. She does have other things that she says the vowels differently in then most people :) I know I have heard both. I don’t think anyone is loopy :)

The different ways of spelling the pronunciations are confusing me because accents differ so much! In Australia Lauren (usually female) is pronounced with a shorter sound in the Lau part... However I have heard Americans pronounce it with a more drawn out sound in the Lau like "lorrr-en". I knew of a man from the southern United States who pronounced his name Loren as Lorrr-en but I am unsure if that was the masculine pronunciation or simply his southern accent! Any ideas on how Loren (male) should be pronounced with an Australian accent? Should it be the same as the usual female Australian pronunciation of Lauren or should there be more emphasis on the ORR sound to differentiate it as the name variant?

I am Lauren...pronounced LAW- ren. I DETEST when people pronounce it LOR- en! ( including my MIL and FIL even after 40 years of correcting them- passive- agressive to the max!)
I know several people named Lauren who pronounce it LOR- ren. I think it's more important to pronounce it the way the person named Lauren wants (even though LOR-en makes me cringe- they should spell it Loren, not Lauren).
