Marlee vs. Marley

I tend to favor Marlee because it's less associated with Bob Marley or Jacob Marley (not that it's bad, just I like to think of a child as their own personality).
I am not sure what "culture" you are referring to- I can't say that I've seen it spelled Marlee before, but I like it.

What in the heck do you mean by "the cultural way" to spell the name? I think Marley is more known, so I'd go with that.

My husband and I are Aboriginal Australians, and Marlee is the 'cultural' way to spell the name. That spelling holds the meaning. While Marley does not hold the same meaning, it is the more known way to spell the name. So, that is what "the heck" we mean…

Cool. Well then I would Definitely use the Marlee spelling! It has meaning! I don't think it's that hard to say "two E's at the end" to correct someone's spelling if need be. I don't know anyone personally with the name, but I've known people with various spellings of Carly, Carley, Carlie, so I don't know that people would automatically assume it's Marley.
