Niamh vs. Neve

Niamh is an Irish Gaelic name, the pronunciation is neev. We don't like in the United Kingdom. So should we do spell it Niamh with her possibly having to correct people or Neve but it's not the proper spelling?

I love the original spelling but if you live in a place where the name is not really known, Neve may be the better way to go. That's not to say that people around her won't learn how to say/spell it but Neve would probably cause less "headaches"

It s nice to have an unusual name, but a name people never read or write correctly is so annoying. Neve is so pretty

Trust me it's annoying having to tell people all the time how to pronounce your name ESPECIALLY with names that are in most countries never going to be said right until they get told how, spell it Neev it's pretty that way and still unique

I know both a neve and a niamh, and neve definitely has less hassle with spelling and pronunciation. Its a lot less frustrating having a name that is easy to spell or write, for that reason i would go for Neve. However if you do decide to go with niamh i still think it is really pretty. Other spellings are (although i dont like these nearly as much) Nieve, Neave or Neeve. Oh and also dont spell it neev, like somone else suggested!!!

To me Niamh is much prettier. I don't know if it's because I'm originally from the uk, but I've always known how Niamh is pronounced and rather assumed everyone did!

Niamh gmv.

I live in the U.S. For years I said if I ever had a daughter she would be Niamh. This spelling is not unknown. And if we in the U.S. can handle Saoirse, then we can handle Niamh.

Even Neve can be mispronounced. Think of actress Neve Campbell ("nehv"). But yeah, Neve is more phonetic than Niamh. I grant you that. Good luck! :0)
