Cylas vs. Cylus vs. Silas

Husbands family tradition calls for us giving our baby boy a C name, but we are really liking the name Silas. Hubby wants to change it to a C spelling but I'm not so sure. Should we break tradition??

I was also going to suggest Cyrus.

Otherwise, sticking to the Silas spelling is best. The other spellings will just be a headache for him.

What about using Silas as a middle name, but calling him that. For Example, Caden Silas or Cory Silas....Connor Silas

If not, then I'd spell it Cilas...gl

Thanks all, the tradition is that the initials be CW, so unfortunately an S middle name won't work :(

Silas. The other versions look tacky and childish.
Aren't there plenty keeping the tradition already. You should get to use the name you like. Will all of your children have to be CW? If so I would stop this tradition immediately.

Cilas looks great!! But I'd say Cylus also works because it's so close to Cyrus, which is a great suggestion.

If both you and your husband are ok breaking the tradition, do it. Name him Silas. I think this issue is more trying to find what the two of you are comfortable doing.

Silas, unless you genuinely love Cyrus as much. I find all these 'family traditions' so one-sided, like only one parents side of the family matters. You're creating your own family. Call your kids what you want.
