Leo vs. Romeo
Hi, I really love the name Leo and always wanted to name my baby boy this however, in the last couple of years, it has increased a lot in popularity. I do want my child to have somewhat of a unique names and not be in class with a bunch of Leo M., Leo T, Leo R, etc. Another name we really love is Romeo since it is more different but still strong and timeless.
Any thoughts are welcome pls!

Your child will most likely not end up in a class of Leo's. While it is gaining in popularity, I have yet to see more than two children with the same name in any classroom. More importantly, if you love the name, go for it, or you may end up with baby name regret. However, if you are looking for something a little bit unique, I'd personally look outside the tope 500. Romeo is in the top 377 as of 2020. Leo is very handsome.

Romeo got my vote. Aurelio or Leonardo could work. Lio/Leo could be his nickname while having a unique full name. A couple of my favourite O-ending names are Matteo, Dario, Apollo, and Danilo though there are plenty others!
Love Romeo!
Other names:
Matteo
Rocco
Massimo
Enzo
Elio (knew the sweetest little boy with this name and it ages os well!)

Leo is great. While it is more popular lately, it's not top 20 or anything.
If you're really worried about him having to go by his last initial, give him a short middle name that flows well with Leo and call him by both first and middle some of the time. Then he can go by Leo Ross or Leo Zane or Leo Quinn or whatever instead of Leo Lastinitial.

Maybe Leon with the nickname Leo? Or Leonardo?
Leo is great
No to Romeo
My son has a popular name and he's only had one other boy with his name in his classes once! Riley he's still the only Riley for five years now.

I personally have not come across a lot of kids/ babies named Leo at all. If you love it go for it. Honestly I think Romeo could lead to teasing Because of Romeo and Juliet. Good luck!

Leo gmv, popular names are actually less popular than they used to be sounds kinda crazy but it's true (1.0734% of boys were given top 1 boy name in 2020 compared to 4.4761% of boys in 1970) you can't look into your own or past generation to determine with how many people he's gonna share his name caude it's gonna be way less. Also a unique name isn't a guarantee that he won't share his name my son is James we never had another James in his class but there were two Canyons in kindergarten. It's about the popularity of a name in your city/area not the whole country.
I'm not a fan of Romeo, it's foever gonna be associated with Romeo and Juliet and Romeo is an other word for lover in my area.

Totally agree with the previous comment - while I still like to stay outside the top 20 or so, the most popular names don't make up as high a percentage of kids as they used to. Just because something is the most popular name doesn't mean there will be as many of them as there were of the most popular name 30 years ago. Which is great!

Leo! Absolutely love that name! My eldest son is Graham and if you look on the popularity charts you won't find it. My next eldest is Oliver which apparently is very popular. Well, we have yet to meet a single Oliver and there is another Graham in our neighborhood! Choose the name you love! We did and have no regrets! 😊
